O2 Launches AI Tool "Daisy" to Combat Phone Scammers and Protect Customers
O2 has unveiled a novel artificial intelligence technology called Daisy in a daring attempt to fight the rising problem of phone frauds.
Daisy is meant to be a lovely, old grandma, interacting with con artists and keeping them busy so they cannot target actual victims. O2's continuous fight against fraud and protection of its consumers from sometimes complex frauds includes this creative technology.
Research demonstrating that 70% of individuals would like to frustrate scammers but do not want to waste their time doing so inspired Daisy. Daisy comes in at that point. Daisy fools con artists with convoluted, long-windy chats utilising her grandmotherly voice. To keep them occupied, she creates stories, falsifies personal information, and gives them fictitious bank details. O2 claims Daisy can keep fraudsters occupied for up to forty minutes, therefore interfering with their activities and stopping them from coning actual targets.
Daisy, though, is not limited in her annoyance of the scammers. She also assists O2 in revealing typical fraud strategies, so enabling the business to inform clients on how to avoid fraud. Daisy, for instance, assists in determining the kinds of information fraudsters target and their methods of manipulation by posing as a vulnerable victim.
Speaking on the value of this program, Virgin Media O2 Director of Fraud Murray MacKenzie said, "We're turning the tables on scammers and outsmarting them at their own game." He also underlined the need of being vigilant and mentioned the company's dedication to address all kinds of fraud. O2 is not depending simply on Daisy; the business is also funding technology to identify spam calls and ban fraudulent texts in order to further safeguard its clients.
Daisy's debut aligns with O2's Swerve the Scammers campaign, meant to increase awareness of fraud avoidance. Given the tool was unveiled soon before International Fraud Awareness Week, the timing is important. The initiative reminds the people that not everyone on the other side of a phone call is who they say they are.
O2 is advising consumers to keep alert and cooperate to fight fraud. It's more crucial than ever to be wary while answering calls from unidentified numbers as scammers running full-time call centres and always creating new strategies are always active. O2 forwards each questionable call or text received to anyone else encouraging them to report it for free at 7726.
Among the ways O2 is safeguarding its clients is this intelligent AI technology. O2 wants to make scammers consider twice before attacking vulnerable people by combining technology, awareness campaigns, and a bit of comedy.
